Online Coaching with Studio Marcy

Marcy Lamberson of Studio Marcy does online coaching of sculptural creations on her blog. I recently asked her if she would critique my work and here is the blog entry. I can't wait to see the bobblehead she made that comes out tomorrow. So go check out her site it has a wealth of information.

Sterling Silver Lined Pandora Bead

Here is a variation of the bead that I used on the bookmark in the next post. It is the same flower design just in a different shape. The first one I made I have hanging on a silver chain around my neck. Man is it pretty (humble aren't I). :) The bead is lined with sterling silver and will fit on the pandora bracelet or necklace. It has a 5mm hole so I think it will fit most of the Euro bead systems. I have 3 more of these at home that I need to get cored so do check back often. I think this is going to be one of my favorite designs to make. Altho that does change weekly it seems, so get them while you can. :) Pam

Lampwork Bead and Silk Ribbon Bookmark

This is a new creation that I am really excited about. I have been making these flower beads for a couple of weeks and decided to make thong bookmarks out of them. Actually a coworker kind of gave me the idea with the thong book mark and I decided that the silk ribbon would really add a lot of pizzazz to the bead. So there you go. The silk ribbons are hand made by Jamn Glass on Etsy. They are really nice and colorful. These would go nicely with a book for a gift. So anyway, go check out my Etsy store for the listing. I have several beads made and am just waiting to get more of the accent beads to finish a few more bookmarks. So check back. Thanks! Pam

Lampwork and Wood Pens

This is something new that my husband and I came up with. He makes hand turned wood pens and I make lampwork beads so we decided to try and mix the two. This pen is made with tulipwood. Here is what google has to say about the wood - The heartwood is a beautiful pink-yellow with a pronounced striped figure in varying shades of Salmon pink and rose red. The grain is straight but more often irregular, with a fine texture. My husband decided to use this wood after I made the red bead. I believe it is made with a red sangre glass and it is somewhat transparent but not entirely, if that makes any sense. Anyway, I think it really makes the grain of the pen stand out. This would be a great gift for a journaler or a teacher or anyone that likes to write, of course. :)It measures 5 1/4 inches long and is a twist type mechanism with black ink. Click on the picture to go directly to the listing on Etsy. Thanks Pam

So did everyone go to see my Lampwork Beads Made to Order page. The beads are really pretty! Here is a sample...

I recently bought some silver spacers for my pandora bracelet and decided that since I make pandora beads and I have so many of them just lying around (ones that I just can never seem to get around to listing) that I would put them all on my bracelet and wear it. So that is exactly what I did. It was so much fun and I had to rearrange it a couple of times. I also took out a couple that are in the picture and changed them. I really love it and although it looks heavy it really isn't.
So here it is--

Last weekend I was in a bit of a Halloween mood and made three sets of Ghostie beads. I decided to do them a little bit different this year. I made them clear and then etched the bead but covered up the eyes so that they would remain shiny. So the ghostie is soft, matte and translucent. BOO! :)  I think they are kinda cute.. So here are two of the sets and you can purchase them from my Etsy store

Hi.. I just added a whole bunch of beads to my Inventory Reduction Sale Page here on my website. Shipping is $2.50 per order. So stock up and save!

I am trying to get my beads organized so I can have a little sale. I think it will be exclusive to my website and will involve $5.00 beads. I need to get some pics of them and get them listed, so check back in the next few days to see if there might be a few glass creations that you would be interested in. :)

These beads are for sale in my Etsy shop!

Copper Cored Lampwork Beads

So here are the beads that I cored last night. The two on the right were the first ones and I cut the copper too short. The one in the center is pretty but I chipped it on one side - oops. The two on the right turned out good, they are just kind of wonky beads. That is why they were in the bead box and not on Etsy :). I really like the one in the next picture it is wonky but it is kinda growing on me. Might be good enough to wear around the house! LOL
The third bead is a close up of the one in the center in the first pic. It isn't real smooth but it would have potential to try that one again.
The last two beads are ones I am at this very moment listing on Etsy. So gooooooo buy them just as soon as you finish reading this. :)
It is kinda fun to do and not that hard. It requires hammering the beads several times of course to get the metal to bend. That is where the risk of chipping them comes in. Hopefully I can make more this weekend. Stay tuned! :)

Miniature Garden in Bloom - A Glass Artist Collaboration Project

Here is another collaboration project between two glass artists, myself and Kristy Kempinger. We are both members of the Etsy Glass Artists Street Team (EGA) www.etsyglass.com and the Lampwork Etc Street Team (LEST) www.webjam.com/lest

This miniature garden in bloom dangles unerringly from a burnished sterling silver bail. Kristy Kempinger of www.chickadeebeads.etsy.com created this gorgeous focal by decorating a transparent pearly base with subtle and delicate blue florals. The accent beads of pale transparent blue and green that I created and the various shades of pink pearls highlight the artistry of the focal without overpowering it. The focal measures approx 30mm with the overall necklace being 23 inches in length.

Recipe for Success - A Glass Artists Collaboration - Lampwork Glass Necklace

I am a member of the Etsy Glass Artists Street Team and as such I have become involved in a collaboration project with Kristy Kempinger of chickadee beads. We traded beads a couple months ago and combined them with our own creations to create a collaboration item to sell.
Here is what I came up with.
Base of ivory, rolled in raku frit then decorated with raku and turquoise are the ingredients and recipe for the gorgeous focal bead created by Kristy Kempinger of chickadeebeads. Add to this the deep azure blue and turquoise spacer beads and the turquoise and raku nugget dangle created by me and it is a recipe for success. The hammered antiqued brass chain and flower clasp set off the focal and inspire visions of scenic rural flower gardens in bloom and cool flowing waterways. The focal measures 30mm x 45mm and the total length of the necklace is 29 inches. Kristy and I are both members of the Etsy Glass Artists Street Team - and Lampwork Etc Street Team.

Whimsical, Rustic and Oh So Charming - Artisan Lampwork Glass Necklace - A Glass Artists Collaboration

I am a member of the Etsy Glass Artists Street Team and as such I have become involved in a collaboration project with Kristy Kempinger of chickadeebeads. We traded beads a couple months ago and combined them with our own creations to create a collaboration item to sell. I am still working on my projects so continue to check back for that as well. So here is Kristy's creation and her description of it. It is just beautiful.

I love combining a little of this with a little of that and ending up with alot of oh how I love it! Little glass beads, a turquoise nugget, and my handstamped sterling charm all dangle from a fine silver ring that I fused then hammered, brushed and stamped with whimsical stars and squiggly designs. I love that the process of working with the fine silver still shows~a tad on the rustic side. It's original and true, just like everything in life should be. The hand dyed silk ribbon necklace (by Etsy id 'jamnglass') is approx 20 inches in length and simply ties behind the neck. The ends are finished in simple knots with Greek ceramic beads (Etsy id 'na0sglass') that have been coated in silver. Pendant clusters hang approx 1 1/2 inches from the ribbon. Thanks to Pam Dansie (Etsy id 'mycabincreations') for the extra little sky blue glass bead that has now found a home!

A Glass Artists Collaboration - Eclectic Earth - Lampwork Glass Necklace

I am a member of the Etsy Glass Artists Street Team and as such I have become involved in a collaboration project with Kristy Kempinger of chickadeebeads. We traded beads a couple months ago and combined them with our own creations to create a collaboration item to sell. I am still working on my projects so continue to check back for that as well. So here is Kristy's creation and her description of it. It is just beautiful.

Earthy with a splash of color, this necklace features the work of two members of the Etsy Glass Artists Street Team (EGA)! Inspired by the beads of glass artist Pam of Etsy shop 'mycabincreations', I envisioned a rustic and eclectic piece that would incorporate both copper and silver. Pam's gorgeous pillow bead was created with ivory glass and features layered dots of metallic copper green and mosaic green. The focal I created with a type of glass that when worked a certain way in the torch, creates tiny bubbles on the surface that give it a lovely texture and an aged appearance. I then wrapped subtle stripes of shades of sage, caramel and a hint of blues around it. The cluster of beads hangs from a fine silver ring that I fused, hammered and brushed for a nice rustic, matte appearance. Copper and silver Greek ceramic beads, my own fine silver hammered and brushed hook clasp, and a gorgeous brown hand dyed silk ribbon that has just a bit of a bronze sheen finishes the piece. Silk ribbon necklace is approx 20 inches in length. Pendant cluster hangs approx 2 1/4 inch from the silver ring.

HAVE FUN AND SHOP TILL YOU DROP!!!

HI!
New pandora slider bead sets in my Etsy store, also I will be making a ton of new bead sets this weekend for you to make bracelets, etc from so check back frequently. I have been a little lax in making regular beads so that is my goal for the weekend.

A lot has been happening lately. I am now a member of Lampwork Etc Street Team (LEST). It is a very creative group of individuals that are getting together to market lampwork items. It has been a lot of fun to participate in the group. You can find us on Etsy by putting LEST in the search box. Here is our website (a work in progress) Lest. and our blog.
I also have a webjam site that I have pics and a blog on. It is here.

I have been selling a lot of slider beads for the Pandora, Troll and Biagi bracelets in my Etsy store lately. They are a lot of fun to make and I think I am addicted to making them. I am making sets, so if you have any suggestions for color combos or anything that you would like to see send me an e-mail. You can go to my Etsy store to see what I have available. Also there are some in my store here that would be special order.

I do custom orders as well. Just send me an email and we can discuss what you are looking for.

I have been putting beads on vintage skeleton keys lately. I have two for sale in my Etsy store. I had my mom go antique store shopping for me a couple of weeks ago and she found quite a few pretty keys that I will be using. She lives in the midwest and it seems there is more of a supply of keys there than I can find locally. Anyway, The glass is melted right onto the shaft of the key and it can either move freely by using bead release or be stuck in place if you don't use the release. I think I am more partial to the "move freely" ones. It is kind of like the glass in the bottle. How did you do that?

Anyway, I made mine into a dangle and have it hanging on my purse. You could use it as a pendant and hang it on a chain, use it as a zipper pull, a fan pull. Anything you can dream up.

Keep and eye out on my Etsy store for sales in the near future. I will write about it here as well.

Thanks and check back soon.     Pam
